This morning in Language Arts, as Mrs. Johnson read our class novel "Holes", we paid close attention to visualizing the different scenes taking place. Mental pictures are the cinema unfolding in your mind that make reading three-dimensional. Visualization helps readers engage with text in ways that make it personal and memorable. Readers adapt their images as the continue to read. Students illustrated the different mental images they developed in their mind while chapters 34 and 35 were being read to them!

This afternoon we completed our first science lab of the year! Students modeled the rock cycle with starburst candies. They had three different colours of starburst candies which represented the different types of rock sediments. They then went through the different stages of the rock cycle, modeling the different types of rocks with their candies. We used things such as heat and pressure to form the different types of rock. Students recorded their findings with a table and drawings. In the end, the students got to EAT their "rocks"!
